10/07/2015—Airmen deploy to assist with damage assessment
Twelve Airmen and four aircraft assigned to the Maryland Wing, Civil Air Patrol have deployed to South Carolina to assist with aerial disaster assessment missions as a result of the excessive flooding during this past weekend's storm.

07/12/2015—Civil Air Patrol Members Attend Tri-Wing Encampment
More than 250 Civil Air Patrol members participated in the week long Tri-Wing Encampment, held at Maryland National Guard facilities on Aberdeen Proving Ground's Edgewood Area. Encampment is a basic training style camp for new CAP cadets. It teaches military customs and courtesies, drill, physical training, aerospace education and history. Students also participate in activities such as rappelling, an obstacle course and orientation flights with the Maryland Army National Guard. Tri-Wing Encampment is hosted by the Maryland, Delaware and National Capital Wings of the Civil Air Patrol. Cadets who previously attended as students plan and run the encampment, with adult officers acting in a mentoring role. Encampment is open to CAP members from all states. This year, in addition to the host wings, members attended from Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Florida, Arizona and California.

06/28/2015—Carroll Open House Showcases Civil Air Patrol Programs
Maryland Wing Civil Air Patrols Carroll Composite Squadron showcased cadet, aerospace and emergency services programs during an open house May 12, 2015. Located in Westminster, Maryland, the Carroll squadron welcomed over 100 people including community officials, legislators and many parents interested in CAP programs for their sons and daughters.

05/11/2015—Annapolis Civil Air Patrol cadet earns highest achievement award
Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Morgan Edwards from Civil Air Patrol Maryland Wings Annapolis Composite Squadron earned the Gen. Ira C. Eaker award. The award is the last milestone for the CAP cadet program. The award was presented by Middle East Region commander Colonel John Knowles.

05/06/2015—Wicomico Composite Squadron welcomes new commander
Civil Air Patrol 1st Lieutenant James Caldwell accepted command of the Maryland Wing, Group IIs, Wicomico Composite Squadron in April 2015. Squadron members and guests took part in the ceremony with Maryland Wing, Group II commander, Major Don Ells presenting Caldwell the squadron’s guidon.

04/23/2015—Cadet Strauss selected as Annapolis Composite Squadron Cadet of the Quarter
Maryland Wing Civil Air Patrol Annapolis Composite Squadron's Cadet 1st. Lt. Jessica Strauss was named Cadet of the Quarter and recognized at the squadron award ceremony.
04/21/2015—Annapolis squadron cadet recognized by Air Force Association
Maryland Wing Civil Air Patrol Annapolis Composite Squadron Cadet Chief Master Sgt. Nicholas Schardt has been selected as the Air Force Association Squadron Cadet of the Year. The award was presented by Master Sgt. Lemaun Koonce, president of Air Force Association Chapter 160, at a special award ceremony at Lee Airport. The award recognizes the most outstanding cadet in the squadron who has displayed superior performance during the year.

Maryland Wing Civil Air Patrol's Towson Composite Squadron celebrated a number of cadet and senior member achievements on March 25, 2015. Cadets, senior members and parents gathered to watch as more than 20 promotions and awards were presented.

Maryland Wing Civil Air Patrol Cadet La’Marr Berman from the Charles Composite Squadron was awarded the General Billy Mitchell Award and promoted to cadet second lieutenant.

03/31/2015—Maryland Wing squadrons participate in CyberPatriot competition
CyberPatriot teams from Maryland Wing's St. Mary’s Composite Squadron, Annapolis Composite Squadron, and Glenn L. Martin Composite Squadron achieved 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the state recognition round.
03/24/2015—Maryland Wing receives 1st Air Force mission award for 5-day training
During the recent Civil Air Patrol Command Council meeting in Washington, D.C., Maryland Wing was presented a mission award from the commander of the 1st Air Force for flying Fertile Keynote training missions 60 miles off share over the Atlantic Ocean.
03/22/2015—Mary Feik Inducted into Maryland Women’s Hall of Fame
Civil Air Patrol Life Member Colonel Mary Feik was honored by the Maryland Commission for Women. Six new members, including Feik, were inducted into the Maryland Women’s Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame honors Maryland women who have made unique and lasting contributions to the state.
03/11/2015—Annapolis cadet earns Billy Mitchell Award
Maryland Wing Civil Air Patrols Cadet Jordan Demeritt from the Annapolis Composite Squadron was awarded the General Billy Mitchell Award and promoted to cadet second lieutenant. Retired Army Sergeant Major Daniel E. Harper presented the award. Family and squadron members attended the ceremony March 3, 2015 at Lee Airport.

The Civil Air Patrol cadet program teaches leadership, aerospace education and military drill and ceremonies. Cadets earn promotions and rank as they move thru the program, taking on higher responsibilities and teaching new cadets.
