12/20/2004—Maryland Wing launches pilot program for youth
A pilot program aimed at sharing resources to increase effectiveness, participation and quality, has been announced by the Maryland Wing and the Baltimore Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
12/17/2004—McHale assumes command of Carroll squadron
First Lieutenant J. Kevin McHale, of Finksburg, accepted command of the Carroll Composite Squadron of Civil Air Patrol during the squadron's annual banquet on December 11, 2004.
12/15/2004—MD Wing members participate in Field Training Exercise
Forty Maryland Wing cadets and senior members participated in a field training exercise Nov. 21-22 in Howard County.
11/18/2004—Maryland Wing provides orientation flights to AFROTC cadets
Maryland Wing agreed to provide orientation flights to cadets enrolled in the AFROTC Detachment 330, at the University of Maryland, College Park, Md.
11/04/2004—Tuskegee airman Howard Baugh addresses Maryland Wing's annual conference
Howard Baugh, a retired lieutenant colonel who flew with the Tuskegee Airmen, was guest speaker at the 2004 annual conference held by the Maryland Wing Oct. 9-10 in Solomons, Md.
11/03/2004—Wes LaPre assumes command of Prince Frederick Cadet Flight
Maj. Wes LaPre of Huntingtown, Md. has been named commander of the Prince Frederick Cadet Flight in the Maryland Wing of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP).
10/15/2004—Walling named commander of Maryland Wing
Kay Joslin Walling of Easton has been named commander of the Maryland Wing of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) and promoted to colonel.
09/22/2004—Civil Air Patrol awards contract to Space Computer Corporation
Civil Air Patrol has awarded a $1.6 million contract to Space Computer Corporation for the software to operate 15 hyperspectral imaging (HSI) systems.
09/03/2004—New Squadron Formed In Maryland Wing Of The Civil Air Patrol
The Maryland Wing of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) has announced formation of the Hyde Field Senior Squadron under the command of Lt. Col. Robert A. McManus, Ed.D, of Temple Hills, who began plans to form the squadron late last year.

Cadets of the Delaware, Maryland, and National Capital Wings participated in the 2004 Tri-Wing Encampment held July 24 to Aug. 1 at Camp Frettered, near Reisterstown, Md.
08/13/2004—Maryland Wing's director of Cadet Programs receives commendation medal
Capt. Joe Winter received a commendation medal from the Maryland Air National Guard (ANG) for meritorious and outstanding service in his role as director of cadet programs of the Maryland Wing.
07/28/2004—Maryland Wing members play key role at Region Search And Rescue College
Lt. Col. Jon Royer saved a U.S. Navy SEAL who had been blown about 2 miles off course during a practice parachute jump at Fort Pickett.
06/30/2004—Johnathan James accepts appointment to U.S. Air Force Academy
Airman Johnathan James of Hyattsville, Md., has accepted an appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy from U.S. Rep. Albert Wynn (D-4). He will report on July 1 as a member of the class of 2008.
06/21/2004—2004 Middle East Region Staff College a success
The 2004 Middle East Region Staff College ended on a successful note with the graduation of 26 students. The 40-hour residential course was held 13-19 Jun 2004 at Peace College in Raleigh, North Carolina.
06/09/2004—Historic Moment For Maryland's Civil Air Patrol With The Mounted Horse Search And Rescue Team
Bowie Composite Squadron, MDWG-052, made its debut this past Saturday, May 29th at the Bowie Memorial Day Parade.

Howard Composite Squadron devoted an evening to ceremonies in honor of Maj Hans Schmitz upon his completion of 30 years of service to Civil Air Patrol.
06/07/2004—Sarah Regen receives flight academy scholarship
Cadet Master Sgt. Sarah Regen received the Ebehard Trams Fund Scholarship to attend CAP's National Flight Academy July 10-18 at Blackstone Army Airfield at Fort Pickett in Virginia.
05/28/2004—Emily Hudson accepts appointment to U.S. Air Force Academy
Cadet Capt. Emily Hudson accepted an appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy as a member of the class of 2008.
04/07/2004—CAP re-dedicates memorial to two Maryland Wing members killed in the line of duty
A commemoration of the 50th anniversary of an airplane crash that killed two members of the Maryland Wing was held April 3 in Havre de Grace, Md.
03/25/2004—Members complete two-day Wing-level course In Annapolis
Members of the Maryland and National Capital wings completed a two-day course held at the Annapolis Composite Squadron to complete a requirement to earn CAP's Grover Loening Award for future promotion.
02/09/2004—Members complete two-day first aid and CPR course
More than 20 members of the Maryland Wing completed a two-day advanced first aid and CPR course Feb. 7- 8 taught by Major John E. Henderson, the wing's director of current operations.
02/03/2004—Phares receives highest cadet award and promoted to Cadet Colonel
Abe Phares, a cadet in the Hagerstown Composite Squadron, received CAP's Spaatz Award at a presentation banquet and was promoted to colonel.
01/08/2004—Senior members attend public affairs officer conference offered by Maryland Wing
Senior members attended the Maryland Wing's annual Public Affairs Officer Conference under the direction of Maj. Kay Joslin Walling of Easton, the wing's public affairs officer.
